  1. Furniture with drawers can also be used as storage places for small items like china, silverware and other nick-knacks. Try wrapping them up in your tablecloths, towels or blankets to save more room.
  2. Glass and Crockery items like (dishes and glasses) should be wrapped in newspaper or bubble wrap and packed in sturdy boxes with cushioned tops and bottoms.
  3. Boxes should be stacked up on boards or pallets to prevent damage from dampness (concrete floors can become cold and damp).
  4. Dont forget to place those items you may need to get access to more towards the front.
  5. Use boxes for easy stacking. Same sized boxes will bve a major advantage. Boxes can be purchased or sometimes you can pick them up free at food stores. Be sure the boxes are strong enough to hold what you are wanting to store in them.
  6. List contents of boxes on all four sides; number the boxes; seal them with masking or packaging tape. It's a good item to write out an inventory on a separate sheet of paper.
  7. Mark "fragile" clearly on all pictures and mirrors after wrapping them in cardboard or layers of paper. Stack them end on end.
  8. Large appliances (fridges and washing machines) make excellent packing cases for blankets, towels and clothing.
  9. Tables with removable legs should be broken down to save space. Tape the screws etc under the table using a strong tape.
  10. Sofas and loveseats can be stored on end to save floor space. Always place a protective cover under the end that rests on the floor. Cushions should be wrapped in plastic and placed on top.
  11. Cover stuffed furniture with cardboard, plastic or old bedding to protect against dust.
  12. Mattresses should be propped up so they stand straight to prevent them from bending out of shape, and should be covered to protect against dust.
